Those pics look really old...like 1950 or something. Something tells me they really might be too old now...

Weird...it wasn't just the style, the grainy images made it look really old too.

Are we looking at the same picture? Cos it doesn't seem grainy to me...

Okay, here's one that looks KIND OF like I imagined Fleur (a French actress) www.probertencyclopaedia.com/j/Julie%20Delpy.jpgThat one ^ you'd have to change her hair a bit and eye color and lose the lipstick, but at least she looks French. Wow, you have to be careful when looking at French actresses....they really have no qualms about posing nude.

My biggest point is Kate's an actress. She can play pretty much any role she's taken. She'd be fine, and if you don't go in the theator with preconcieved notions, you'll hardly realize it was Kate at all.

I still won't like it. I can't stand it when they cast people just because they're famous. I'll be really annoyed if she tries pulling off some totally fake French accent. If she can do the accent, I'll say you were right, but otherwise she's just not Fleur!

I think it would be brilliantly funny with Kate and a overpronounced accent. And, like I said, this isn't based on looks. I could find more attractive people across my hall in my dorms (not to say she isn't pretty, i've made it clear I think she is EXTREMELY pretty...anyway) Fluer's character is very funny because she seems very superficial (and really is superficial) and Kate can do that well. Remember, when casting you don't want someone just because they LOOK like the character. Look-alikes aren't really important. You want someone who will do a good job, can pull it off, and go beyond the book because it should be a little different in some respects like any movie vs. book... anyway, i'm excited.

Oh, just admit it...you like redheads!

My mom's a redhead, how could I disagree?!?
hehe, my facial hair grows in red too...oddly enough. one reason why I wouldn't ever want to really grow it out, although laziness often leaves me shaggy.

Seriously, though, GoF could do a lot worse than Kate Winslet. Even if she isn't how you picture Fleur, she'll do well in the part---even if she does it differently than the book, acting to her strengths.

LOL... 'never trust a man whose beard is a different colour from his hair'... where the heck is that from? Anyhoo... I do see your point about Kate, and it's true that appearance is not the most important thing in casting a character. But I still thing it's going a bit far to get a 30-ish Englishwoman to play a skinny 17 year old French girl.

Hear hear. I mean, if they can't find anyone else, at least they get someone like Kate, but otherwise...oh come on! A 17 year old French girl??
