I don't think they're anything like HP. Not really, I mean Artemis is a very cold, psychologically screwed-up genius and Harry is a loving, psychologically screwed-up wizard of average intelligence. Yeah, but you can't tell me that this colfer guy would have come up with artemis fowl without reading HP. you can so see where the general (not specific) idea comes from...
