They don't have noses. But Ginny, did you actually see the dead animals, or was it only from that website? Because if you've actually witnessed all this stuff, I'm with you all the way, but I know I haven't seen anything bad - my Petco's actually pretty nice, and you haven't said anything about your personal experiences w/ Petco.

My petco has been really nice. All the animals are well cared for and happy. My baby sitter worked there once, and I know she would have ditched them if she heard of anything illegal.

you know they use mice for cancer research to but i dont see you complaining about that
And by the way if they relised snakes into the wild they would kill just as many mice in much less humane ways

When I was in second grade we had a snake in the classroom. They used to feed it live mice. One day I asked to have one of the mice that was cowering in the corner uneaten. I took it home in a tiny (and cute) little cage. I couldn't keep it because my mom doesn't like mice so my friend took it to her house. Well, there it was taken out while my friend listened to the backstreet boys. Her little brother came in and started dancing around to the music (He was 3) he was also wearing cowboy boots. So the little mouse was squished. What I'm wondering is that if it would have been better to have let the mouse be eaten or squashed to death?

Well, did the mouse die on impact, or did it suffer?
They haven't come up with a cure for cancer yet, so it's obviously just harming the mice for no reason.
There was a little escaped mouse on the floor one time when I went there, and I raised alarm and we all caught it. My sister spoke to an employee afterwards, and according to him, "We just stomp them."
THERE WERE MAGGOTS IN THE GECKO'S FOOD DISH. Since when do geckos eat live, squirming wormy thingys? Never.
There was a dead gecko laying in the water dish, therefore contaminating the rest of the water, and spreading disease in the tank anyway.
Yes, birds have noses. You can see the nostrils up high on their face, just above the start of their beak. There was blood coming from the little parakeet's nose.
There was horrid overcrowding in virtually all of the cages, but especially with the parakeets and the ferrets. They cannot live happily, cramped in that little entrapment.
There were dead fish in about all of the tanks. Why were the fish dead in the first place? Why weren't they taken out?
When my sister brought her hamster Hammy home (rest in peace, Hammy... we'll never forget you) he was terribly spooked, which had never happened with any hamsters we'd gotten from better stores than Petco.
The floor was littered with lots of bedding and seed, why wasn't that swept up?
I'd love to be able to dig up the bedding in those cages, see how many maggot nests I uncover...
Chinchillas, rats, mice, and hamsters all either horribly spooked or dead.
A very unactive turtle, a sign of inadequate temperature regulation, no feeding, or bratty people terrorizing the poor thing.

This is a picture of some budgies (Australian Parakeets... that's what the bleeding bird was.) Look hard at the budgies... see the nostrils? Notice the diagram below... there's an arrow pointing to nostrils...

It would have been better for the mousie to have been eaten.
Geo, you can't blame yourself. Nobody but me knows how much I wish I didn't gasp when I saw the dog, or that I hadn't broken the cage, or that I'd put extra security measures on the other cage, or that I'd taken Hammy, or that I'd gone out with my sister to feed the dog.
It's all right. Take comfort in knowing that the mouse is in a much better place now.
Nobody here has control of what happens with fate, and I'm sure everyone here wishes they had a Time-Turner to keep something from happening.

Okay, I know this thread is really really old but I like this debate, and by the way, ginny W, that's what geckos do eat. there are geckos that live around my house, and when we're lucky enough to see them, sometimes they eat in front of us, and that's exactly what they do eat.

Me and my brother like to look at the fish there whenever we go to get my dog dog food. The only time we ever saw a dead fish was when a employee was taking it out of a tank.

dead fish are kinda gross. so, who would want to buy fish from Petco when they have been swimming around in the same water as dead, rotting, icky fish?

who would want to get a human when they've been living on ground filled with rotting humans? It's natural.
