Does it ever say in the books which houses they are all in? I was just wondering b/c I always assumed the Marauders were all in Gryffindor but some think otherwise...

I would guess Gryffindor, because Sirius says Lupin was the one who got THE prefect badge; if they were in different houses, two or more of them could have gotten one.

See I assume that they all are in Gryffindor too but then I think about what Hagrid told Harry. About how all bad wizards were in slytherin and at that time he believed Sirius was evil. So you would think Sirius would be in slytherin and then you think that peter was really the evil one so he had to be in Slytherin. It would be cool if Sirius was in Slytherin because he is my favorite and I could then say I am in the same house as Sirius.

yes, i think hagrid was just generalizing, and i'm guessing he was under orders not to tell harry about sirius, b/c he said it in book one, so he couldnt say 'they were all in slytherin, except for the one'. and the prefect thing, and when harry was sitting under the tree with Ron he said he reminded him of another gryffindor quidditch player who ruffled his hair, or something like that, when referring to his father. and just because as an adult pettigrew was evil doesnt mean that he was like that at the age of eleven, on the day he was sorted. and there's the fact that in OotP, when they suspect that umbridge knows about the DA, all the members are coming over to talk to harry and hermione says it'll look suspicous if people from different houses are talking to each other, suggesting that people from different houses rarely hang out, or become close friends the way the marauders did.

hehe, yea, kids are different than adults. james was a little jerk as a kid but he grew up to sacrifice his life for his wife and son. sirius was the same way, and everyone has faults, you dont have to be perfect to be in gryffindor, but i think the hat may have seen the potential for a great person in the boys. that doesnt explain peter, i dont know how he got in there unless he seriously change from the time he was 11 to the time he gave up james and lily.

Unless he is gonna eventually prove himself worthy...I mean Harry did save his life in the shack...so perhaps he ows it to Harry and will save Harry?? But this means that Vold would have to die b/c if Worm won't let Harry die....one of them as got to kick the bucket...

You would think that the same kind of thing would have been placed on Neville as well then....

but if james sacrifice his life for his wife and son would not that mean that lily would have the same kinfd of love shield as her son? i'm not sure, maybe its because lily actually stood in front of harry totally defenseless, and james was actually duelling voldy. not saying this is the answer, its a confusing matter. i dont really understand how it works.

i think that the four marauders were in the same house...they were just too close of friends to not be....it seems that the houses don't mix too much as far as socialization goes....

I think that on JK's site, she said that they were all in the same house - not positive, though.

Slytherin/Gryffindor don't mix, yet Salazar and Godric were best friends.
