yeah, i missed it all, too... I was at my friend's house all weekend, and when I came back today everyone hated each other.
Oh well I can understand where Elys is coming from... Last year, my volleyball coach was coaching for the very first time, so she wanted us to like her. By the time our first game rolled around, we all loved her. We felt like she was our best friend. Then, after we lost our game, we spent the next practice doing nothing but sprints... We hated her.... How dare she make us sprint?? She was our friend! We felt so betrayed! Needless to say, she got many parent complaints, so we had to have a "team meeting." At the meeting, she told us about the difference between a friend and a coach. She said she loved being our friend, but the problem with being a friend is that you lose the rapport that you would normally have with a coach. Friends are your peers, your equals. You wouldn't take it if you were bossed around by your friend. Friends can't boss you around, but coaches can. For example: As a friend, we hated her for making us do sprints... but as a coach, we respect her because we know she's only doing what's best for the team.
So she told us that even though she loved being friends with us, she had to step back a little and take the position of the coach. She promised us that we wouldn't have any less of a relationship with her; it would just be a different kind of relationship. She knew we hated sprinting, but she wasn't trying to torture us on purpose - she was just doing what was best for the team. After that meeting, it took a while to get adjusted to having a coach instead of a friend. But we soon learned that she could be our coach, but at the same time, we could have a great time with her. We won all but three games that season, and I think a lot of it had to to with us understanding her position as a coach, not as a friend.
Now Elys has explained her position several times. What irks me is that nobody here seems willing to accept that position. I imagine that can be very frustrating for Elys. She's trying to do what's best for the site, and when people start hating her for that... I can understand why she's so upset.
I don't think this site will be truly "happy" until people start accepting that Elys is a "coach," and we must all respect her for that.

OMG, you are so perfectly right, I can't add anything...
I was here yesterday when it all began, constantly posting here and IMing elys to try to stop it, but perhaps its better that this happened, so people will think...

Redvolleyball, you're so right. I completely agree with what you posted.
Anyways, this is a talk-about-anything-you-want thread so, I'm gonna start talking about those tall fuzzy black hats that those British guard people wear. I love those hats! I'm going to Europe in a few days and I wanna buy one of those hats while I'm in England. Do you think they'd sell them in a souvineer shop or something?

Well, he's trying to kill me, so don't feel bad. Which reminds me, if he succeeds, I name Ginny Potter my successor.

Can't say i've ever tried to make one laugh as its been years since i've been to London and i didn't meet one then. Though from what i've seen on film and TV its near impossible to make them laugh. film and TV wouldn't lie to me would it?

No, definitely not....of course it's possible to have a murder, get a make-over, fall in love, solve a mystery, and get married all in three days!
